Contract design is a customer-centric approach to contracts which means they’re written for customers - not lawyers
User-friendly contracts allow your customers to understand their own contracts and close deals easier and faster. When designed right, contracts can be engaging communication and help your customers to reach their goals.

I’m a values driven ex-corporate lawyer, law firm founder and contract geek. I understand the frustration clients have with contracts: confusion, legalese and endless negotiation. I also know how it feels as an everyday lawyer who’s buried in paper and thinking “there’s gotta be more to it than this.”
Frustrated with watching the churn and burn that exists in traditional law, I started Lawyers Design School to show lawyers there’s a real and human alternative to practicing law - legal design.
Contract design is one part of legal design. It starts with embracing your designerly lawyer mindset: the mindset that is curious, creative and customer-centric.
As an inhouse counsel, I wanted work products to make sense, be understandable and add value to the customers. I fell in love with the concept of putting the user first, by making the law more human and accessible. I had a fire in my belly for writing contracts people would read and understand. Once I started my own law firm I applied a different business model based on value-based pricing. This drove me to be as efficient as possible, for example creating templates to enable finding relevant information quickly.
Contract design is the key to the change. You can bring humanity back to law and make efficiency serve our purpose.
It’s here - ready or not.
