Why Hannele founded Lawyers Design School

Hannele strives to transform the legal profession so it’s relatable, understandable and usable for everyone, especially the customer. Design thinking and application are the pathways for lawyers to deliver the services the way clients understand, and keep lawyers in the profession. Legal design offers lawyers an enjoyable and human alternative to practicing law. 

Legal design thinking allows lawyers and in-house teams to embrace new ways of thinking about their work and adopt and develop new technology to increase customer satisfaction and increase revenue. 

Hannele looks to a future where customers are empowered by their interaction with lawyers, lawyers enjoy their work, and society can access and understand their rights.

Hannele’s Backstory

Hannele is a values-driven former corporate lawyer with over 20 years of experience.  A contract specialist, Hannele founded a law firm and pioneered a legal technology platform. She is a legal designer, speaker and advocate for changing the legal profession to provide access and equality for all users. 

In 2016, Hannele co-founded Contract Mill, a legal SaaS start-up that automates the creation of legal documents to improve access to justice and allow lawyers to scale their legal work. Hannele studied law at the University of Helsinki, graduating with a Master of Laws (LLM) and at the University of Jyväskylä, graduating with a Bachelor of Science, Economics, majoring in Management and Leadership.  She studied design at Aalto University Executive Education and Professional Development graduating with a Diploma in Service Design. Hannele also studied pedagogical teaching at Haaga-Helia School of Vocational Teacher Education and is a  qualified Vocational Teacher.
