Visualization in Court with Anna Posthumus Meyjes – Aclara Legal Design

Visualizations in court are visual representations used during litigation to communicate the issues more clearly and understandably. They are called litigation graphics. Visualizations in litigation help clients and the court understand technical details, timelines, stakeholder relationships, and interaction points. Graphical representations of events are more easily digestible than large chunks of text. Visualizations in court give judges a point of reference and help the parties stay on point during the proceedings, which saves time and money for everyone involved.

Lawyers understand legal design visualization in contracts and in today’s episode of Legal Design Thinking IRL, we discuss how to use legal design in litigation.

Anna Posthumus Meyjes is a legal designer and founder of Aclara Legal Design. She brings creativity, design, and a user-centered approach to law. Aclara Legal Design helps you improve the communication and usability of your legal information. Go from inaccessible, dense legal documents to engaging, easy-to-use legal content your stakeholders will happily read. Anna worked as an attorney-at-law in an international litigation practice for over ten years, amongst others, at the top-tier Dutch law firm NautaDutilh. She specialized in liability, insurance, and financial law. Designing and using clarifying visualizations became an increasingly important part of her communication and inspired her to start Aclara Legal Design.
